Selecting a Tint for your Lenses

Tinted lenses are used for comfort, visual health and of course, style. There is a wide range of tints to choose from at Direct Optic. You can choose between uniform and gradient tint and top it up with a great mirror effect. Even better, all our tints receive a UV400 coating.

We offer 3 levels of tints, each relating to a specific level of light filtration:

25% is category 1

Light tint, often used for style and visual comfort.

50% is category 2

Middle range tint used for outdoor protection during winter, rainy days and in driving situation. This tint is not optimal for extreme light protection.

85% is category 3

Highest protection used for sunglasses. Perfect for extreme light conditions in summer, travelling through the desert or family holidays at the beach.

On tint colors:

Grey Tint

Good for general use and natural look. This color is recommended for hyperopia prescriptions.

Brown Tint

This color increases contrasts, improves your vision's quality and is recommended for myopia prescriptions.

Yellow Tint

This color has outstanding contrasts properties, increasing your vision in low-lighted and dark environments.

Green Tint

Relaxing and producing a feeling of well being, it reduces the natural colors of your surroundings. This color is recommended for hyperopia prescriptions.

Other Colors Tints

Other colors, such as blue or pink, have no protection properties. We recommend to use them for style only.

Uniform and Gradient Tints

These two pictures show you the difference between a Uniform Tint and a Gradient Tint.

Mirror Effect

The Mirror Effect increases sunlight protection while giving an extra stylish touch.
